This frozen watermelon smoothie is the perfect summer smoothie that’s easy to make and refreshing. It’s a convenient grab-and-go breakfast and an ultimate thirst-quencher.
Chilled watermelon is the best summer treat. You can enjoy juicy, sweet, refreshing summer fruit in so many ways. Try watermelon granita, chilled soup, watermelon gazpacho, and watermelon feta salad, perfect for a pool party watermelon mojito, or enjoy a glass of fresh homemade watermelon juice.
If you still haven’t tried a smoothie out of watermelon, try it today. Thank me later. You can make this smoothie with fresh watermelon or freeze it for a few hours before making a smoothie to get a thicker consistency smoothie.
I added 2-3 tablespoons of chilled milk to the smoothie(not shown in the video) to help break down the frozen fruits in the blender. Add ice cubes, chilled water, Greek yogurt, or plant-based milk (like almond milk).
Ingredients
- Watermelon: Seedless watermelons are best. For thicker consistency, I’m using frozen watermelon cubes. You can use fresh watermelon and with frozen strawberries, the consistency will be slurpable.
- Strawberries: use frozen strawberries to get a thick smoothie consistency.
- Honey: optional. For extra sweetness. Feel free to substitute honey with maple syrup or granular white sugar. Do not add any sweetener if the watermelon is sweet enough.
- Lime juice: use freshly squeezed lime juice. It adds a hint of tang to the smoothie.
- Milk (not shown in the above picture): use chilled milk, it helps break down the frozen fruits in the blender. You may also add ice cubes, chilled water, Greek yogurt, or plant-based milk (like almond milk).
Variations
- Use ripe bananas instead of milk or Greek yogurt to make it dairy-free.
- Add a few fresh mint leaves to the blender to take the smoothie to the next level.
How to make
For every 1.5 cups of frozen watermelon, use 1 cup of frozen strawberries.
Step 1: Add all the ingredients to a blender.
Step 2: Blend it for a couple of minutes until smooth and creamy.

Believe it or not, I’ve never had a watermelon slushie or smoothie or any drink with watermelon in it. Usually, I’ve eaten it all before I can make a drink out of it ;D But this looks beautiful and refreshing…definitely need to try this over the summer!
