Cranberry juice, freshly squeezed lime, ginger beer, vodka all together transforms your traditional mule into the ultimate holiday cocktail. Holiday gatherings means you’ll need drinks for entertainment and there is nothing more festive and apt for this season than this cranberry cocktail.
I wish you could see the bright vibrant color of this cranberry Moscow mule in that copper mule mugs! It’s gorgeous and has enough holiday cheer to it. And it’s very easy drink to stir up. To make the best Moscow mule, you’ll undoubtedly need the best ingredients and a few tips to follow.
Let’s get stirring –
Ingredients
- Vodka – The best choice of alcohol. I wouldn’t recommend you any other alcohol. Use best vodka you can find, your mule taste depends on it. Cheap vodka makes your drinks taste like methanol and rubbing alcohol.
- Cranberry Juice – adds that bright red color and flavor to mule. I recommend you use Ocean Spray cranberry juice that is sweetness. Pure cranberry juice will be tart and won’t be easy to drink. You’ll need a cranberry juice that is sweetened.
- Lime – freshly squeezed lime in any cocktail brightens the flavor of the cocktail. Always use freshly squeezed lime.
- Ginger Beer – gingery flavor from ginger beer is perfect addition for sweet, tart cranberry juice in this cocktail. It adds that ginger spice flavor to the drink, which is amazing to drink during winters.
- Frozen Cranberries – used for garnish. Makes cranberry Moscow mule looks beautiful and festive enough.
- Lime wedges or rounds – A cocktail cannot be served without lime wedges.
- Fresh Rosemary Sprig –Use the sprig as a stirrer. Mild rosemary flavors get imparted into cranberry cocktail which makes it taste amazing.
- Ice – Loads of ice filled into the copper mug, pour the cocktail and serve.
Tips To Make Best Cranberry Moscow Mule
- Use good quality cranberry juice that is sweetened. I recommend Ocean Spray cranberry juice. It’s pure cranberry juice that has it tartness balanced. If you plan to make your own cranberry juice at home, make sure you sweeten the juice to balance it’s tartness. Unsweetened cranberry juice is too tart and not too pleasant to drink.
- Don’t use cheap alcohol. It will make the drink taste like methanol and rubbing alcohol.
- This drink is best served chilled, like really chilled. Make sure you have all the ingredients chilled or frozen before you start.
- Keep vodka in freezer, cranberry juice and ginger beer in the fridge atleast for 3 to 4 hours. This will ensure you have chilled mule.
- Always use freshly squeezed lime juice. Concentrated lime from the bottles doesn’t do justice to this drink. It won’t taste good.
- Use frozen cranberries. Frozen fruits acts like ice which not only keeps the drink chilled but also makes cranberries float on top. Making it looks pretty!
- Don’t forget the garnish. Frozen cranberries and lime wedges are MUST in this cranberry Moscow mule recipe.
- Traditionally mule is served in copper cups ( we call it mule cups). Chill the cup in freezer or fridge for couple of hours. It will help the mule keep chilled for longer. If you don’t have copper cups, use frosted cocktail glasses.
How To Make Cranberry Moscow Mule
Plan ahead before you make the drink. While the drink is all pour and stir kind, you’ll need to have everything chilled for the drink. Leave your vodka in the freezer and cranberry juice and ginger beer in the fridge. Place the copper mugs in the fridge or freezer to chill as well.
- Have your chilled copper mugs filled with ice.
- Next pour in 1 part of vodka over the ice.
- Then pour in 1 part of cranberry juice.
- Next, top it with 2 part ginger beer.
- Squeeze in two lime wedges into each cup.
- Gently stir with rosemary sprig to combine.
- Finally garnish with frozen cranberries, a lime wedge and fresh rosemary sprig.
Sit back on your couch, sip this icy cold cranberry Moscow mule cocktail besides a cozy fire. Life is good during the holiday season!

Great recipe – my family absolutely loved these! The ginger beer I used was a bit spicy so I added some extra juice to balance the taste. Added frozen cranberries and a sprig of fresh mint for garnish. Thanks for the recipe!
