This is the BEST stuff guys! It scream fall all the way. It looks like fall (look at that amber golden colored drink), it smells like fall(apples, oranges and all those wonderful spices cooking in the pot – my house smells amazing), and it tastes definitely like fall (with all the aromatic spices of fall)!.

Making homemade apple cider from scratch is really easy. And recipe calls for just a hand full of seasonal ingredients plus 3 minutes hands-on time. Also we are making this spiced apple cider in instant pot. We are talking dump and push start easiness. That is easy right!

You’ll fall in love with this warm and soothing glass of apple cider. It’s also a wonderful drink to heal your sore throat.

The way I like to drink spiced apple cider – feet up on the couch covered in snugly sweater and warm my palm first with a mug of hot apple cider and then sip in on. It’s reminds me of apple pie. The spices, apples and oranges – yes of course apple pie!

Oh the orange juice in this apple cider is so festive. Oil that gets released from orange peel while cooking it along with cinnamon, clove and star anise imparts a wonderful fragrance. My house smells so festive. And the drink is so festive too.

Picture yourself having a glass of this festive cider on Christmas morning! Sounds like the best Christmas isn’t it? I agree! You definitely want to make this on for Christmas breakfast. And if you can spike it up with alcohol for a great Christmas Eve celebration drink.

Making apple cider in Instant pot has a big advantage. You can cook fruits quickly and after you strain, you could leave apple cider in instant pot for keeping it warm for few hours(using the keep warm setting).

Store apple cider juice  in fridge and warm it up any time you want to drink. Homemade apple cider stays good for a week in fridge and longer in freezer.

    What is Apple Cider?

Apple cider is more popular name in US, Canada. It refers to sweet beverage drink made from apples. It’s an un-fermented drink made by crushing fruit, typically apples. The drink can be spiked with alcohol/spirit of your choice or served as non-alcoholic drink.

Apple cider is THE BEST winter drink that helps you keep warm and happy.

How to Make Apple Cider Recipe

Simply cook apples along with oranges (thrown in some lemon if you don’t mind the tang) along with whole spices that are fall favorite spices. We are talking star anise, cinnamon, cloves. You can spice it up little more with little all spice powder if you like.

We promised this recipe takes very little hands-on time and we mean it. You simply have to chop apples and oranges rough. Don’t bother removing seeds or skin.

Throw roughly chopped fruits into instant pot along with whole spices and brown sugar. I’ve used brown sugar, maple syrup would be perfect sweetener for apple cider recipe.

Cook with enough water for 15 minutes. Let instant pot naturally release pressure for 15 minutes. Then open the lid after manual pressure release. Mash, strain and store or serve.

    It’s that easy!

I can’t find whole nutmeg at my grocery stores. Can I substitute it for ground nutmeg, or go without it? Thoughts?! Looking forward to trying this recipe.

You can definitely substitute with ground nutmeg. Homemade ground nutmeg is so much better in terms of flavor and taste, it’s fresh too!
