It’s a creamy, spicy, mayonnaise base sauce that is one of the most popular sauces from Bonefish Grill restaurant. Mayonnaise is flavored with Thai sweet chili sauce and sriracha for an extra kick. Add honey if you want to mellow down the heat.
This sauce is very similar to the boom boom sauce recipe. The creamy, spicy flavor of the bang bang shrimp sauce is perfect for dipping any fried appetizers such as bang bang shrimp, coconut shrimp, and chicken nuggets, which can be drizzled on tacos.

- Thai sweet chili sauce – use any sweet chili sauce you like. I have an amazing recipe for Asian sweet chili sauce.
- Sriracha – for heat, helps balance some of the richness and creaminess of the mayonnaise.
- Rice vinegar – for a tangy flavor.
- Pepper (optional)
- And honey(if you like to reduce the spiciness)
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: To a bowl add mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, rice vinegar, pepper, and honey.
Step 2: Mix it well. The consistency of the sauce depends on the mayonnaise used. This sauce should not be too thick or too runny. If the sauce turns out thick, adjust the consistency by adding a little water.
