Ingredients needed
You’ll need-
- ½ cup softened salted butter
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon raw honey (clear not creamed honey)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Butter – salted or unsalted butter can be used. The quality of butter will affect the taste of cinnamon honey butter, use best quality butter. In my recipe I used salted butter.
If you use unsalted butter add ¼ to ½ teaspoon kosher salt to the recipe. Adjust amount of salt as per taste.
Before you proceed with making cinnamon butter, make sure butter is softened at room temperature. Do not use melted butter and do not use hard refrigerated butter it’ll be crumbly when you whip it. Leave butter on counter at room temperature for 1-2 hours before you start making the cinnamon butter.
Powdered sugar – you must use powdered sugar. There’s no substitute. Powdered sugar will give volume to the butter.
My recipe is written with ¼ cup powdered sugar, feel free to increase the sugar to ½ cup if you like sweeeet butter. I do not prefer too sweet butter, ¼ cup works best.
Honey – not just to add sweetness but honey also adds wonderful flavor and taste to butter. The combination of butter, honey, cinnamon is simply wonderful.
Important: use clear raw honey for best results. Avoid using creamed honey. Liquid honey that has water consistency should not be used. It will not only thin down the butter, butter will fall apart. I like to use less honey as honey can thin down the butter. If you want more sweet adjust the amount of powdered sugar.
Cinnamon powder – use best quality fresh cinnamon powder.
Vanilla extract – make sure to use pure vanilla extract not the imitation. Vanilla bean or vanilla bean paste works great too.
