What Is The Best Cheese To Use For Beer Cheese Recipe

  • Choice of cheese makes a whole lot of difference. The best choice of cheese makes the best cheese sauce. And more the cheese you use, the better the dip tastes!
  • Cow’s milk cheese is great choice. They have enough moisture and melt well in hot liquids. Cheese like cheddar, mozzarella, Pepper Jack, Monterey Jack are best cheese to use in the recipe.
  • Stay away from hard cheese like Parmesan, Gruyere.
  • Always buy block cheese and grate it fresh just before making the cheese sauce. Pre-grated cheese is coated with substance while packing. This will make cheese not melt smoothly.
  • Do not cook this sauce on high heat. You don’t want to boil the cheese sauce. Cook on gentle heat.
  • Add grated cheese slowly and keep whisking to avoid cheese lumps.

Which Beer To Choose For Beer Cheese Recipe

Any of your favorite beer would work! I’d suggest you to use a beer with light mild flavoured beer. It blends well with the flavors in the sauce without becoming over-powering.

Dark beer would not be best choice as it might alter the flavors of the beer sauce.

Lager, ale style beers are great choices.

Can Beer Cheese Sauce Be Made Ahead Of Time?

The cheese dip tastes best fresh. But if you are pressed of time, you can definitely make this cheese dip ahead of time and store it in fridge. Just before serving, heat it on gentle heat slowly in microwave or stove top. And keep stirring to help cheese melt.

Tips To Make Best Beer Cheese Sauce

  • To help cream cheese blend easily, softened it at room temperature before you start making the cheese dip.
  • Cooking on gentle heat is the key here. Do not cook sauce on high temperature or boil it. Cook softened cream cheese and beer on low temperature for cheese to melt completely. Be patience.
  • Beer with mellow flavors and light in color are best beer to use. Strong beer might alter the flavor od this cheese sauce. Suggest you use lager or ale types of beer.
  • Make sure to use freshly grated cheese. Pre-grated cheese in stores has a coating which usually prevents the cheese from melting smoothly. It might turn into lumps.
  • Adjust seasoning as per taste. Taste and then season as needed.
  • This cheese dip is best when served immediately, made fresh. If you are pressed of time, you can make it ahead and store in fridge for upto 2 days. Reheat on very low flame in microwave or stove top before serving.
