Refreshingly sweet watermelon juice is the best thirst quencher on hot summer days! Fresh watermelon juice can be easily made at home in no time in a blender!

Alternatively, hydrate with fresh homemade fruit juices – detox water, and pineapple juice.

Why make watermelon juice at home

1. It’s super easy to make watermelon juice at home using just a blender.
2. Best summer drink that you must make when watermelon that is in season and in best quality.
3. Perfect thirst quencher for hot summer days!
4. A drink you can sip on all day long.
5. Easily customizable! Enhance the taste and pack more nutrients into the drink by adding in fresh ginger (anti-inflammatory properties), fresh mint (for added freshness taste), black salt (to enhance taste) or sugar if you like your drink on the sweeter side.
6. Make easy and best tasting cocktail by adding in rum, for pool side party.

Ingredients you’ll need

You will need-

1 seedless fully ripe watermelon

Optional ingredients:

  • Fresh ginger (1 inch)
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Black salt
  • Sugar (for added sweetness)

Ingredients additions & substitutions

Ginger – watermelon with fresh ginger (about 1 inch piece) ground together makes it taste wonderful. Also ginger has amazing health benefits like anti-inflammatory properties.

Mint leaves – consider adding few fresh mint leaves while blending watermelon for added freshness. Watermelon and mint together tastes amazing.

Vegetables – pack it with more nutrients by adding vegetables to watermelon. Vegetables like carrots, beets or celery works best while juicing watermelon.

Black salt – that is commonly used for enhancing the taste. Add ¼ to ½ teaspoon of it to watermelon while blending for taste.

Sugar – can be added if watermelon isn’t sweet enough. If your watermelon is ripe and sweet you don’t have to add any sweetener.

Coconut water – coconut water not only enhances the taste of the juice but makes it the best body coolant when is most needed for hot summer days.

Cocktail – Add rum or vodka to the drink and make the best cocktail out of it.

How to make watermelon juice

  1. Use seedless fully ripe watermelon. To cut watermelon, slice off the ends of watermelon, remove rind from it.
  2. Cut circle slices of watermelon and cut into cubes.
  3. Add cubes watermelon into blender and blend into a smooth juice.
  4. If the watermelon has seeds don’t bother removing all the seeds. Blend it into juice along with seeds and then strain the juice using fine sieve strainer.
  5. Strain the juice through fine mesh strainer to get fine clear watermelon juice. You can skip straining the juice if watermelon was seedless and you don’t mind grainy juice.
  6. Serve immediately with few ice cubes and mint leaves sprigs or chill watermelon juice in refrigerator for 1 or 2 hours before servings.

Watermelon health benefits

Watermelons are not just refreshing thirst quenchers but it has abundant nutrients packed in it. Watermelon is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin B-complex compounds.  They are plentiful in minerals like potassium, magnesium, copper, phosphorus and manganese. It also has traces of calcium and iron.
Watermelon is also a rich source of electrolyte. For fasting, cleansing or even for weight loss watermelon juice is highly recommended.
With almost zero cholesterol, very little fat and approximately 50 calories per cup watermelon is one important fruit you should include in your diet.
Did you know – the seeds of watermelon are also packed with nutrients. So eating a few seeds accidentally or intentionally is good for you!

How to serve watermelon juice?

Homemade fresh watermelon juice is best consumed immediately as soon as it’s made. Add a few ice cubes while serving or if you don’t water to dilute the drinking with ice cubes chill watermelon juice in refrigerator for 1 or 2 hours before serving.
It’s best to consume the juice within 8 hours after it’s made.
You can serve watermelon juice with fresh mint sprigs for garnish or place a piece of watermelon in the glass for garnish. Add a fancy umbrella to make it look cool.
You can also add frozen watermelon pieces to the drink.
To make it an adult-drink stir with rum or vodka.
