How to Make Chia Pudding
Wait until you try this chia breakfast pudding to believe how easy it is to make. With minimal prep work and absolutely no cooking involved, seriously you’re not going to believe how easy it is to make chia seed pudding.
Start with mason jars to make individual portions of chia seed pudding. Or you can make in bulk like I did in a large bowl.
Fill up the jars with milk – you can use coconut milk, almond milk, hemp milk, soy milk for vegan options and regular milk if you are not particular about veganising it.
Add chia seeds to the jars/bowl and stir it. You can choose to add sweetener at this stage, but for some weird reason I always add sweetener after chia seeds are soaked and plumped.
Sweeteners like honey, pure maple syrup works best. Along with sweetener add pure vanilla extract too.
Cover and place it in fridge for atleast 4 hours, overnight soaking is best. That’s it! Now all you have to do is, wait!
Wait, while the magic happens!
Chia seeds soaks up all the liquids and thickens resembling the texture of pudding.
And that’s all, it ready, your basic chia seed pudding!
If you like it, just serve it as it is.
Or you can create different flavors from the basic chia pudding.

Is Chia Seed Same as Sabja(basil) Seed
Some people ask me what is the difference between chia seed and sabja seed? There are lot of reference on the net regarding these 2 amazing super seeds. All I want to say is chia seed and sabja seeds are not the same, chia seed is damn expensive when compared to sabja seeds if you are comparing it price wise. Each have their own medicinal benefits and yes, some easily replace chia seeds with sabja.
Sabja seed or sweet basil seed is native to India and Mediterranean regions and usually used in drinks and desserts like faloodas, serbhets. Sabja seeds impart a sweet flavor to the dish.
Sabja seeds are only black in color.
Both seeds have health benefits of their own.
Sabja seeds is good for your heart, helps in clearing arteries and has various nutrients like potassium, magnesium ,phosphorus.
Sabja seeds can be consumed only after soaking it in liquids like water or milk.
Chia seed on the other hand is native to central and Southern Mexico and Gautemala.
It’s an energy food which can be consumed raw as well as after soaking. Sprinkle over salads, or cookies. Soak them and use it as pudding or blend in smoothie.
Chia seeds can be black, grey, white or brown.
Chia seeds helps in weight loss. Consuming chia seeds before meal can make you feel full and satisfied, hence curbs over eating.
