Garlic butter recipe

Whatever you are making, be it to make garlic bread or roast potatoes, making pasta or roasting vegetables, you’ll need garlic butter to flavor it up.  It’s one of the easiest flavor agents to make and once you make it I guarantee you’ll have it as a staple in your refrigerator all the time.

Dinner is only a few minutes away when you have a stock of garlic butter in your fridge. Simple boil pasta and stir hot pasta with garlic butter – dinner is ready!

Homemade garlic butter is simple and easy to make. Salted butter, minced garlic, and parsley is all you need.

Next time you want to flavor steak, baked potatoes, Hasselback potatoes, corn on the cob, or make pasta, simply make garlic butter. It amps up the flavor of any simple dish.

Ingredient needed

You’ll need-

  • 1 stick salted butter (softened at room temperature)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon parsley (finely chopped) or chives
all ingredients for making garlic butter

Butter – butter should be softened at room temperature. I do not recommend melting butter in microwave to speed up the process.

Allow butter to sit on the counter at room temperature for at least one hour.

I used salted butter. If you use unsalted butter do add ½ teaspoon of salt to the butter to season it. Use premium quality butter for best taste.

Cloves – use fresh garlic. Though you can use garlic powder, nothing compares to fresh garlic, fresh garlic enhances the flavor better.

Parsley – fresh is best. However you can use dried parsley or fresh chives in case you don’t have fresh parsley.

Additional ingredients

Garlic butter recipe doesn’t need anything else other than garlic and parsley. If you do want to pack in more flavor can add other ingredients–

Parmesan cheese – freshly grated Parmesan adds cheesy saltiness to the dish.

Lemon juice – about ½ to 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice adds zing taste to butter which works great with meat roast, potatoes, corn on cob or even pasta.

Pinch of ground pepper – for flavor.

Mix it all together.

Transfer to small jar.

Store in refrigerator.

Spread it generously on a baguette and bake it for 1-2 minutes to make garlic bread, spoon a dollop over pork roast or beef, on top of baked potatoes, stir with hot pasta.

How to store garlic butter

This savory butter can be store in refrigerator for up to 1 week.

To store longer, freeze it. It’s stay goof for up to 6 months.

You can freeze butter in ice cube trays, once set, remove from ice cubes and transfer to air tight freezer box and store in freeze. This ensures easy to take portion just enough for use.

When ready to use thaw frozen butter in refrigerator overnight and use.
