Ingredients

  • 2 cups seedless watermelon rind removed, cubes
  • ¼ cup lime juice freshly squeezed
  • ¾ cup tequila blanco tequila or 100% agave solver
  • 1 tablespoon sweetener optional (use agave nectar, honey)
  • 2 Jalapenos sliced
  • 1 cup ice cubes

For Serving

  • Salt
  • Chili Powder
  • Sliced Jalapenos
  • Watermelon
  • Ice Cubes

Instructions

Prep Watermelon:

  • Use seedless fully ripe watermelon. To make watermelon juice, slice off the ends of watermelon, remove rind from it. Cut circle slices of watermelon and them cut into cubes. Add cubes watermelon into blender and blend into a smooth juice.
  • If the watermelon has seeds don’t bother removing the seeds one by one. Blend it into juice along with seeds and then strain the juice using fine sieve strainer.
  • Strain the juice through strainer to get fine clear watermelon juice.

Shake The Margarita:

  • Pour watermelon juice into cocktail shaker (if you don’t have cocktail shaker, check notes below to know how to make margaritas without it). Add rest of the ingredients. Shake well for 30 seconds to 45 seconds.  You will shake margaritas with ice only before sharing.

Prepping Margarita Glasses:

  • Many opt for sugar coating on margarita glasses. I’m biased when it comes to margaritas. I need to have the salt rim. And this watermelon cocktail needs something little extra than plain salt. It needs the kick. After all it’s watermelon jalapenos margaritas remember?! It’s got to have the kick. So chili powder mixed with sea salt (crushed) is best way to serve this summer margarita.

Serving Margaritas:

  • Pour cocktail into salt and chili powder rimmed cocktail glasses. Serve with 1 or 2 cubes of ice. A slice of jalapenos and a small cut watermelon piece.
  • Serve immediately. Cheers!

Notes

If you don't have cocktail shaker, try this-
  1. Go-to coffee mugs: You heard it right! Those spill-proof go-to coffee mugs can be used instead of cocktail shakers. The small hole through which you sip coffee can be used to pour shaken cocktails without the need for a strainer.
  2. Mason jar: Oh yes, Mason jars are wonder jars. Not just used for storage, but you can also shake your cocktail with it. Close the jar tightly with the lid and shake the cocktail. Pour into glasses through a strainer.
  3. Protein shaker/sports bottle: You need to have leakproof bottles to shake cocktails.
  4. Two cups: Age old method used by many to shake cocktails without a cocktail shaker is the cups method. Two cups one should be slightly smaller than the other. Pour the cocktail into one cup, and place it on the counter. Place the other cup upside down into the cup, this will form a seal between the cups. Shake well. Tilt the top cup about 5-10 degrees to the side to break the seal. Pour the cocktail into the glasses and serve.
