Ingredients

  • 25 mini pretzel twists and/or 25 pretzel rods
  • 16 oz candy coating Ghirardelli or Candiquik
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  • Line up a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper. This ensures pretzels dipped in chocolate do not stick as they dry. And it’s easier to remove dipped pretzels without breaking them.
  • Melt in separate bowls of white and dark candy melts in the microwave for 30-second intervals. Stir every time you remove chocolate from the microwave to help melt evenly and smooth.
  • Dip pretzels one at a time. Remove dipped pretzels from the chocolate using a fork. Shake off excess coating and then place it on a tray lined with parchment paper.
  • For dipping pretzel rods (or sticks), use a microwave-safe tall glass and to melt chocolate. Dip the pretzel rod halfway into the melted chocolate.
  • Shake off excess chocolate and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Sprinkle the topping over dipped pretzels immediately. Sprinkles will stick to pretzels while it’s wet. You want to work faster here.
  • Allow the chocolate coating to set at room temperature. You can even place it in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes.
  • Pack it for gifting in cute boxes or gift bags or store it in air-tight containers. It will last for a little more than 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Candy melts are easy to work with. They melt smooth and are perfect for coating.
  • Pretzel knots and pretzel rods are our choice. You could use pretzel nuggets too.
  • DO NOT dip chocolate-dipped pretzels in topping. This will mess up the chocolate coating. Sprinkle the topping.
  • If you don’t like candy toppings, use toasted and crushed nuts or other crushed candies like peppermint or Halloween candies.
  • I do not recommend you to freeze chocolate-covered pretzels. It loses its texture and goes stale if frozen. It’s best to store pretzels at room temperature.
