Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar for syrup
  • 1 cup water for syrup
  • 1 ½ cup fresh ripe strawberries
  • 1 ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Loads of Ice cubes

For Garnish

  • Lemon slices
  • Fresh strawberry slices
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • More ice cubes if needed

Instructions

  • First let’s prepare simple syrup. Simple syrup is simply sugar and water syrup. Add refined sugar and water in equal measure into sauce pan. Bring it to boil. Let it continue to boil until all sugar is dissolved. Stir in between to help sugar dissolve completely.
  • Remove from stove and let it cool down to room temperature.
  • Note : Simple syrup can be made as per your preference. Some add equal measure of sugar and water, some add 1:2 ratio of sugar and water. It’s entirely up-to you.
  • Take fresh ripe strawberries and add it to a blender. Add little water and blend it really well to get smooth strawberry juice.
  • I didn’t mind straining the juice as it was blend very well in blender. But if you want you can strain the juice.
  • Next squeeze lemon juice.
  • Pro-Tip: To extract maximum juice from lemon, gently roll lemons on the kitchen counter applying mild pressure. This will loosed the lemon and help squeeze out most of its juices. You can also microwave lemon for 3 to 5 seconds before squeezing.
  • Have few slices of lemon, mint leaves sprigs and few sliced strawberries kept aside for garnish.
  • It’s time to stir up the lemonade!
  • Into a pitcher first add cooled simple syrup, strawberry juice and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir it well with wooden stirrer.
  • Add ice cubes, lemon slices, slices strawberries and few fresh mint leaves as well into the pitcher. Stir again.
  • Cover and refrigerate it until ready to serve. You can make it ahead 2 days and store it in fridge covered completely. If making ahead, don’t forget to add few ice cubes when serving is it all gets melted.
  • When ready to serve, pour it into serving glasses. Garnish with few lemon slices, mint spring and whole strawberry on the side of the glass.
  • Use fancy cocktail mini umbrellas as well if it pleases you.
  • This homemade strawberry lemonade will bring down the temperature a few degrees instantly.
