If you want a quick snack that is healthy, indulgence and less fat than this yogurt bark which is studded with fresh fruits and healthy granola will easily fit that bill. Whip up a batch and keep it in your freezer and you are good to go for few days.
With mercury soaring high (yes, Summer is here already, and boy noon’s are sweaty and hot) you want to be thinking ahead for ideas that will keep kids and adults in the family cool and healthy. And with summer comes all crazy tummy problems. You better want to eat food that makes your tummy smile. Yogurt is the number 1 go-to summer food in almost all households.
In India you will see yogurt or curd as we call it been used the most during summer in all possible ways. Tempered yogurt mixed with rice or curd rice comes first to my mind. There is also mild spiced yogurt curry or kadhi, lassi (yogurt based drink) so many others ways to use this humble probiotic food. At home we usually go with homemade yogurt (curd). Setting curd at home is a very basic the day to day activity that has been carried on for generations by the ladies of the house. I won’t deny to say that in this fast paced world most of them depend on packaged yogurt which can be a life saver in many situations for many of us, but this packaged curd doesn’t beat the homemade yogurt any way possible.
The best part of this yogurt bark recipes is that it’s totally customizable. There is no difference between Greek yogurt bark recipe and this one. Leave it plain with just honey and vanilla! Berry, granola, fruits or even chocolate chips can be sprinkled on top. Though I have used fresh chopped fruits, frozen berries (when not in season) will work too.
Fresh berries like strawberry, blueberry, raspberry works best with frozen yogurt bark recipe. But don’t stop just there.
Get creative, add your own toppings. If you making yogurt bar for breakfast then pick up that bowl of granola and sprinkle on top. Thinking for kids? Why not use cereals? I’m thinking of those fruit flavoured colourful cheerio’s!
If you plan to serve this yogurt bark for dessert – the options are endless. You can add chocolate chips, stir in peanut butter. Now we are talking!
